ICRAVE is an innovation studio based in New York City that reimagines built and digital environments for brands, choreographing memorable experiences that foster curiosity, imagination and lasting emotional connections.
Helmed by Lionel Ohayon since 2002, ICRAVE has designed award-winning hospitality, airport, workplace and healthcare projects across the globe, partnering with brands such as Starwood, W Hotels, MGM, Disney Dream, Hilton, the One Group, EMM, OTG and more. Domestically, ICRAVE is responsible for some of the most iconic nightlife venues of the last decade and a roster of many of the country’s most celebrated restaurants and hotels, some of which include Catch, LAVO, The General, Arlington Club, Asellina, Serafina, STK and airport F&B spaces across North America.
The Lighting Department is an integral part of the studio. ICRAVE’s integrated design approach ensures interior and lighting teams work cohesively through every phase of the design process from project inception to completion. Lighting is woven through each aspect of the design – ranging from architectural gestures and materials down to each detail in a space. This one vocabulary results in inspiring and enveloping environments where lighting is used as a building material. Considerations span from the materials and finishes of the lighting to current technology trends, energy codes, light level calculations, installation specifications, and cost schedules. Each project begins in the concept phase, and works in tangent with the design team through detailed schematics, design development, and finally construction and installation.
The firm’s upcoming work spans hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, airport terminal design, several healthcare facilities for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and large mixed-use developments that are set to transform Lower Manhattan. ICRAVE’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, Conde Nast Traveler, Interior Design, and more.
