OCUBO was founded by artists Nuno Maya and Carole Purnelle to develop multimedia and interactive cultural projects. It is an international reference in video mapping, interactive projections, immersive spectacles, educational and participatory projects with events all over the world.
From concept to content creation, from site analysis to equipment renting, setup and exhibition, Ocubo creates and delivers all-in-one projects. The artistic studio works for public entities, associations, municipalities, cities or private companies always delivering the best service to the client’s satisfaction. Their artistic installations and shows contributed to some of the largest international Light Festivals, UNESCO World Heritage site, monuments and other public places. Their work has been presented in Portugal and abroad (Australia, Japan, Singapore, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Israel, UAE, USA and others).
The contents of their work go from historical to contemporary approaches, mixing all kinds of media, from archive photos and illustrations to HD video, 3D animation and interactive programming. Though versatile, their work is driven by a common theme, Humanity, reflected through diverse preoccupation such as globalisation, time and space.
They regard art as a global mean of expression regardless of the usual boundaries.
In its work, Ocubo has as constant preoccupation in the communication with the audience turning the spectator into an active participant. Sharing Light with the people, empowering them to create with light, giving them the opportunity to appropriate themselves of their own urban space: those are the motto in each of Ocubo’s creations.
