KSLD was established in 1989 and has completed over 650 projects. We are a broad base practice working on all scales and types of projects. Our extensive project portfolio encompasses work within museum, healthcare, historic, hospitality, arts, exterior and commercial sectors.
We are a team of highly trained designers, with the capacity and experience to work on all projects types, from concept generation to completion. All projects are lead by Kevan Shaw, our design director, whose efforts in the industry were recognised, when he received the Lighting Designer of the Year at the Lux Awards. Inspired by Kevan’s success and enthusiasm, all of KSLD’s designers have been awarded for their project work and their continuing efforts within education and research. Recently recognised KSLD projects include, Iona Abbey Museum, Iona, Spectrum House, Glasgow and Westminster Abbey Cellarium Cafe, London. (All project awards are noted on the KSLD website, www.ksld.com). KSLD have been active in the Middle East since 1999 and have completed a number of significant, award winning, projects, including the KIPCO Tower in Kuwait, which boasts a technically challenging dynamic LED exterior lighting scheme. Current work in progress includes, The Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh, the Scott Monument, Edinburgh and the Limnos Gallery, Greece. We commence every project with the aim to; design for the user, work sensitively with the architecture and create a design that is exceptional, functional and efficient.
